There’s More Rocks Than You Think!
November 17, 2011
It’s true, if you try to imagine all the rocks you can think of, you would be incorrect. Why? Well, just read that headline up there and you’ll understand (I can wait).
Now aren’t you dying to know how many there really are? No? Me neither, it’s not really something I think about. You see, I’ve been busy thinking about the newest episode of The Mikie Show now just a point and click away!
That’s right, just click the wondering word in the first sentence of this post to go where counting doesn’t matter!

Unseen!
November 10, 2011
There’s something in those hills up there. It’s lurking just out of sight. We might just make it out if we can slide in a bit closer, that’s it, keep going, careful not to be seen. There, see it, right there on the left?
OMG, I see it! What is that?
There’s nothing there, actually, but we thought it might be fun to write a little dialogue. That’s the point around here. Try to have a little fun. Like in that paragraph above, notice the reference to hills? Well, look carefully at the photo, see any hills? Neither do I.
So life at The Mikie Show is all about that. Let’s have some fun making stuff up. You never know, we might hit on something.
I swear there’s a hill in that photo, just there on the left…
We’ll see you next week with a brand new show!

Now’s The Time!
November 3, 2011
And it always will be. Now is always a time, you see, and therefore can never be anything less than what it is, which is now.
Relax, it happens to the best of us. I just had a mental lapse, that’s all. I get confused. But there’s no confusion in the next paragraph!
Yes, everything is clear down here in paragraph three. We get right to the point. Which is…
It’s time for a new episode of The Mikie Show! Nothing confusing about that! So why put it off? There’s no time like the present I say. Just click the first compelling word in the second sentence of this post to get twenty-eight minutes of time well spent!

Thanks!
October 27, 2011
I wanted to share a pic of the states where folks are listening to our show. I think it’s thirty-two in all. Whoever you are, we want to say thank you!
Just to show our appreciation, here’s a new rebus to solve!
I guess you noticed there’s no show this week. But just think, with The Mikie Show, you get to choose which rerun you want to hear! There’s forty-two chances of hitting on a half-hour of top-notch on-demand entertainment! Hey, that was the first time I’ve used four hyphenated words in a sentence. It’s earth-shattering!
It’s not earth-shattering!
But listening to The Mikie Show can be. See you next week with a new show!

2+2=3
October 22, 2011
Wow, that’s so wrong. It’s a mistake.
Speaking of mistakes, we made a wee boo-boo here. Yep, we accidentally posted the audio for episode twenty-nine in the post for episode twenty. This meant that when you clicked or downloaded episode twenty, you actually got episode twenty-nine. This is sad but there’s a bright side: we’ve fixed it! And now you can go back to episode twenty and listen to the proper file!
Speaking of episodes, the next one will arrive November 2nd. I know, only one show in October, but this will give you more time for pumpkin carving!

Conflicted
October 13, 2011
I’m wondering, should I be glad or sad that I don’t have to select one of these hats before I start each day? Could go either way.
But when it comes to first rate entertainment, there’s only one way to go: straight to a new episode of The Mikie Show! Just click the option word in the first sentence, and you’ll scoot off to a world where hats don’t matter!

This Week Is Next!
October 5, 2011
Isn’t that exciting! Now, does anybody out there know what that means, because I’m having a bit of trouble.
Alright, I’ll fess up, I know what it means. October is a long month, Wednesday-wise (we usually post shows every other Wednesday), meaning instead of this week, today, our next show will be posted next week, on the twelfth, hey that’s the twelfth night, ya get it, sorry, where was I?
Oh yes, meaning. There’s an extra week in October, at least how we count weeks, so if you were expecting a show tonight, sorry, it will actually be posted a week from now, that’s it, that’s what it means.
So tune in next week (which is really this week) for a full accounting of episode 42!
Now I’m going to say the word twelfth a bunch, just for fun.

Clues Everywhere
September 30, 2011
Did you hear the extra clues for the sound quiz we gave out in the last episode? Yes! First we said “we don’t want you going off in the wrong direction” in the lead up to hearing the sounds. Then ”goose” was a tag in the show’s posting. Plus, if you were following us on twitter, you would have received another free hint! So next chance you get to listen, keep an ear out for those extra clues, k?

There’s A New Moon!
September 22, 2011
No, I mean really, there’s a new Moon above us. The old one snuck out in the middle of the day. Moved on, out to pasture I guess. This new Moon looks a lot like the old one, I know, but look carefully and you’ll see, it’s got some shape issues.
None of that is true. I just made it up. We still have the same old Moon.
That’s what we do around here, make things up. Music, stories, quizzes, questions, you name it. So we were just testing our makeup skills, if you know what I mean. Speaking of makeup, why not put on a little grease paint and saunter over to the ‘listen to the show’ tab! That’s right! All this has been a clever lead up to telling you about our newest show being posted! Just click the second sentence in this paragraph and you’ll go to new show Nirvana, new Moon or not!

A Spider In Every Bite!
September 8, 2011
Some of you might think, no, I don’t want a spider in every bite, but before you say so, a little food for thought: you know what, you’re right, a spider in every bite would be just awful. Thanks for clearing that up.
Now that we’re all so clear headed, how ‘bout we mosey on over to the newest episode of The Mikie Show! That’s right! Just click the complimentary phrase in the first sentence of this post and travel off to a land free of biting…

September 2, 2011
Yes, next week we’ll have a new show: number forty in a series of unheard of proportions. A new exploration of the wonderful world of first class entertainment!
And how do we spread the word of such fundamentally earth shattering news? By doing promos for our stations! So, here are a couple recent ones we recorded for our dear friends at WITT, Zionsville/Indianapolis. See you next week!

Help, I’m In A Vacuum!
August 24, 2011
Well, not really, but at least now we all remember how to spell vacuum.
Speaking of vacuums, if you’ve been living in one then you are probably unaware of the fact that some of the finest entertainment on radio is available right here, under your mouse! Using a trackpad? No problem, we’re right here under your finger!
That’s right, even though we are on the radio, your computer can pretend to be one any time you stop by.
Why would you do that?
Because we’ve just posted a new episode of The Mikie Show! Yes, episode thirty-nine has arrived. Just click the last two words of the second question in this post and travel to radioland!

Behind The Scenes 6
August 18, 2011
There’s always a little tom-foolery going on here at The Mikie Show and, now and then, we like to let you in on it. Not about coming attractions or the production process, that we save for our twitter feed. No, this is about stuff hidden in the show that you can have fun listening for. For example in our most recent episode, number 38, Erin, just after the Clangs visit us, there is a short piece of electronic music. That same melody reappears in the soundscape that follows the interview. You’ll find it in the first half of the piece.
BTW, did you hear the music we used in episode 37 that featured our guest Abe Appleman playing? There were two pieces, the first right before the station break and a little tango about five minutes into the interview.
Lastly, check out the picture used as a thumbnail for episode 36 featuring Elizabeth Tilley. If you were to zoom in on that illustration, you’d find it to be a tree of life that “depicts the relationship between species on earth whose genomes have been sequenced.” (a quote from the wiki article) All those little dots and lines are actually names of trunks and branches and, I don’t know, leaves? See you next time behind the scenes!

There’s a Shortage of Belts!
August 9, 2011
Yup, there’s only one town named belt in the USA and that’s Belt, Montana, population 635. Come on, America, we need another belt, make mine straight up! Let’s see, what else is going on… well, there might be a new episode of The Mikie Show ready for listening using your acoustic absorption devices! Yes, we all have ears and they’re used for more than just sitting there looking pretty. If you agree, just click on the most biological word in the previous sentence and be taken to the only place in town for top-notch radio entertainment!
